2012 Eurovision Winner

Eivind Holtsmark Ringstad has been named the winner of the Eurovision Young Musicians Competition in Vienna, Austria. The seventeen-year-old violist studies with Soon-Mi Chung in Oslo, Norway. For more information, visit the Strad article here.

If Music Be the Food…

Eastman students and faculty will join together on May 11, 2012 at 7:30pm at St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Rochester, New York for Season 3, Concert 3 of “If Music Be the Food…,” a benefit concert series for Rochester’s Foodlink. Works to be performed include Reger’s Two Spiritual Songs and Brahms String Sextet in B-Flat. Performers include series founder Carol Rodland, ESM’s Ying Quartet, Jan Opalach, Dr Robert Poovey, Keiko Ying and the ESM Viola Choir.

If Music Be the Food… was created in 2009 to raise awareness and support for the hungry of Rochester. Audience members are asked to bring nonperishable food items or cash donations for Foodlink as the price of admission. Contact Prof Rodland at crodland@esm.rochester.edu for more information.
