			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img src="http://americanviolasociety.org/files/2010/03/avsastapic.jpg" style="float:left;padding:10px"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;font-size: small">For the third time in four  years, the American Viola Society had a booth at the American String  Teachers Association national conference. Held in Santa Clara,  California,  from February 17-20, the conference offered numerous viola-centric  presentations  and master classes including a keynote address from JAVS Alternative  Styles Contributing Editor David Wallace. <span id="more-550"></span>At the AVS booth, we signed  up roughly twenty-five members, at least twenty of whom are new to the  organization.  Many thanks to several people who assisted with hosting  the AVS booth during the exhibits: University if Northern Colorado  instructor  of string music education William Hinkie, current AVS board member  Deborah  Price, past-AVS board member Michael Palumbo and his Weber State  University  students Crystal Hardman and Amanda Kippen, AVS past-vice president  and past-secretary Pamela Goldsmith, violist/composer Katrina Wreede,  University of Alabama viola professor Daniel Sweaney, and AVS  past-president  Tom Tatton.</span></p>
