2025 David Dalton Viola Research Competition
Call for Submissions
The Journal of the American Viola Society is excited to announce the 2025 David Dalton Viola Research Competition, open to university and college student members of the American Viola Society. This annual competition celebrates original research that contributes to the field of viola literature, history, performers, and pedagogy.
Key Details:
- Eligibility: Open to members of the American Viola Society who are currently enrolled in a university or have completed a degree within 12 months of the entry deadline. (Past award recipients are not eligible to compete.)
- Submission Portal Opens: April 1, 2025
- Entry Deadline: June 1, 2025
Submission Guidelines:
- Entries must be original scholarly contributions and adhere to academic standards, including the use of footnotes and bibliographies.
- Submissions may include musical examples and images, with authors responsible for securing copyright permissions.
- Papers originally written for school projects are welcome, provided they meet competition guidelines.
- All entries must be submitted electronically via Microsoft Word.
