Viola Bank Recipient Responsibilities
Recipients of loans from the American Viola Society’s Viola Bank must be AVS members in good standing at the time of application and for the duration of the loan. Recipients must make an annual donation of at least $50 to the AVS Viola Bank to offset costs of the annual premium for the AVS Viola Bank insurance policy.
Recipients will be asked to provide a photo, bio, and brief testimonial about the program’s impact, and they may be asked to perform in fundraising efforts such as the YAC virtual recital series, “Saturdays with the AVS.”
During the term of the loan, recipients are responsible for maintaining the instrument in good repair. Should the instrument require repair services, the recipient may use an AVS-approved local luthier. Please contact the Viola Bank Chair for approval or advice.
Loans are typically for one academic year and may be renewed by requesting an extension of the loan in writing to the Viola Bank. At the end of the loan period, contact the Viola Bank Chair for additional shipping and return instructions. Proper instrument packing instructions are provided below.
