Lauren Hodges’s New Album, “Solace”

Lauren Hodges’s New Album, “Solace”

Unified around a central theme of dealing with hard things, disappointment, or grief, and always coming back to faith in Christ, Solace is specifically focused on new sacred music for viola. Featuring underrepresented composers, the project includes works by African American composers Adolphus Hailstork and Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson and by women composers Amanda Harberg and Amy Beach as well as two new commissions for viola and piano by Denzel Washington and Josh Rodriguez. This CD provides a variety of works for viola and piano, viola and organ, viola solo, and a series of six of hymns for viola and choir by John Ferguson, performed with the University of Florida Concert Choir conducted by Will Kesling.
