New Music for Violin/Viola Duo

New music for violin/viola duo
Violinist Erik Rohde and AVS member violist Jacob Tews, who perform together as the duo sonic apricity, released their debut album on December 9 on Parma Records. Titled Sonic Apricity: New Music for Violin/Viola Duo, the disc features an eclectic mix of duos by living American composers Augusta Read Thomas, Michael-Thomas Foumai, Elliott Miles McKinley, and Christopher Walczak, a charming mid-20th century gem by Hungarian composer Erzsébet Szőnyi, and a guest appearance by pianist Clare Longendyke in a work written for the trio by McKinley. Four of the pieces are sonic apricity commissions, and all six works on the album are premiere studio recordings (the Thomas has only been previously recorded in its violin-cello form).
Streaming is available on Apple Music, Spotify, and other platforms. More information about the disc can be found at https://www.navonarecords.com/catalog/nv6485/
